As has been known, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee will be bringing its bizarre, grotesque, and hilarious goods right on back from 1997 in a new high-definition remake called Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty. The adventure has retained every bit that made the original great, with a complete graphical overhaul, and so far it’s shaping up very nicely. Publisher Oddworld Inhabitants has now released a gameplay trailer that will give you a closer look at how lovely the game looks since 20 years ago.
And I mean lovely in the loosest sense of the word; the Oddworld isn’t particularly lovely to look at, and that’s part of what makes it great. New graphics and lighting effects breathe a new life into a retro title, allowing it to be that definitive version it was meant to be. New ‘n’ Tasty is definitely something that fans of the series ought to be looking into, especially because if 500,000 copies are sold, the developers at Just Add Water will be able to begin work on the next new Oddworld game, the previously canceled sequel to Stranger’s Wrath, The Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot. Exciting, right?
Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is set to be released sometime within the next couple of months on PC, Wii U eShop, and PlayStation Network. We’ll be sure to let you know when an official release date comes around.
