Update: After the supposed leak of details about Assassin’s Creed Comet, trusted Ubisoft source “Mr_Shade” confirmed that the leaked post containing the press release was not his. This means that those details about the game are untrue though there is still no confirmation of the existence of the game itself.
Original story follows:
It’s that time of year again! After leaks about the existence of Assassin’s Creed Unity were confirmed by Ubisoft last week, another leak about the second rumored game have arisen. An image, which seems to come from a forum post, of an unreleased press release details the release date, platforms, and main protagonist from the upcoming game. The press release assumably continues but the quote below is all that was able to be read from the image:
Ubisoft looks to the stars as it unveils Assassin’s Creed Comet
LONDON, UK – March 28, 2014 – Today, Ubisoft announced Assassin’s Creed Comet, the next installment in the company’s best selling franchise. Assassin’s Creed Comet introduces an all new hero and follows the story of 2012′s Assassin’s Creed III, and bring the story of the Kenway Saga to an epic end.
In development for over two years, the game is being head by one of the leading studios Ubisoft Toronto, under the direction of critically acclaimed series veteran Jade Raymond with support from Ubisoft studios in Annecy, Bucharest, Kiev, Quebeck, Singapore, Sofia, and Reflections, a Ubisoft Company. Assassin’s Creed Comet will be released on Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation 4 from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., Nintendo’s Wii U System, Windows PC, and other next generation consoles. The game will be available on Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, and Nintendo’s Wii Y system on 1st November 2014 in the UK.
Assassin’s Creed Comet tells the story of Eseosa, grandson of Adéwalé from Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry, who needs to seek the advice and guidance of Connor. Eseosa is an intelligent young man with a naive personality.
Assassin’s Creed Comet is based upon the proven power of AnvilNext. Assassin’s Creed Comet will make one of the series’ strengths to date and add new ones to the mix! Not forgetting the series’ acclaimed multiplayer experience is more varied and ruthless than ever in Assassin’s Creed Comet.
Customers who purchase Assassin’s Creed Comet on PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 can download 60 minutes of additional gameplay on the PlayStation 4 after the game’s launch.
Collector’s Editions of Assassin’s Creed Comet will be available in the EMEA region. More details will be unveiled by the end of March.
An interesting point the press release mentions is that the game will be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, “other next-generation” consoles (presumably Xbox One). This means that PS4 and Xbox One owners can potentially own two Assassin’s Creed games this fall. A November 1st release date in the UK falls in line with release dates of previous installments in the series.
Of course, the information should be taken with a grain of salt. It all seems legitimate but I remain highly skeptical, especially by the name “Comet” being the official title. Are you excited for the possibility of two different Assassin’s Creed games this fall?
