Online retailer Newegg.com has a particularly interesting description under their listing of the upcoming Nintendo Wii U exclusive Mario Kart 8 that may have revealed several major new features:
Mario Kart 8 Wii U is a new game for the Wii U. It features new elements such as customizing bikes and designing your own tracks. It is the sequel to the game Mario Kart 7.
There has been no word from Nintendo about any track editor in their new Mario Kart game, but maybe Newegg knows something we don’t? I believe it though. I don’t know see why Nintendo wouldn’t include a track editor in the new title, especially since it would be a superb way of showing off the GamePad’s capabilities. Editing and creating tracks of any kind in video games have always been a god-awful experience for me, so the use of a great touch pad would make the experience a whole lot easier to control.
What does have me skeptical, however, is the mention of customization for bikes specifically. Why not the other vehicles? Nevertheless, that should be cool, but it would seem odd if the game only featured customization for one of the various types of vehicles. Take this all with a grain of salt for now, since this isn’t an official description from Nintendo, but keep your eyes peeled for more information as it gets closer to release date. We shall be updating you accordingly before Judgment Day, May 30th, when Mario Kart 8 is released for Wii U.
