In another case of region locking gone wrong, Marvelous AQL has confirmed that Rune Factory 4‘s release is cancelled in Europe. This is a shame as the game has been localized in English by Marvelous AQL’s subsidiary Xseed Games. We don’t know whether the multiple language options play a factor or if the game’s developer Neverland’s unfortunate closure last year was to blame. Marvelous was vague on the actual details, in a statement made to Eurogamer the publisher wanted to let fans know that “MarvelousAQL has made every effort to secure the title’s release for this territory, it is, unfortunately, not possible to do so at this time.”
For those unfamiliar, Rune Factory 4 is a spinoff from Harvest Moon with a focus on dungeon diving. You do a bit of farming, fighting and making friends and it certainly is a shame that European gamers aren’t going to get a chance to play this iteration.
