Oculus VR Developing Games Internally

John Carmack, the  man who co-created Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, and Quake made headlines when he joined Oculus VR as their chief technology officer. So when CEO Brenden Irbe spoke to engadget he revealed more of John Carmack’s role in the company.

He’s working on a lot of exciting tech…But, his heart and soul and history certainly lies in the game-development side… It’s been John Carmack’s philosophy — you gotta eat your own dog food here, and develop internal content also

Oculus VR has been showing off their virtual-reality headset using third party developers who were willing to put their titles on the totally cool piece of tech, but it seems that Oculus VR, as the developers of the device and presumably a better understanding of the tech, wants to show off content only the device can truly produce.

Of course the Oculus Rift will continue to support 3rd party developers, but frankly I’m really excited to see what will happen now that Oculus VR is becoming more ambitious and confident in what they’re doing.
