The classic block-dropper (that’s the official genre) Tetris is turning 30 this year. Earlier today, Ubisoft announced plans to release a new Tetris game for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It is set to release sometime this year, but no other details have been revealed yet.
I’m not sure what they’ll be able to do to modernize this timeless classic, but perhaps they just won’t fix what isn’t broken. A prettier, shinier version of an already great game is always fine with me, but hopefully they’ll toss some new modes in there. I know that our own Andy Ruis loved Tetris Axis for the 3DS, so it’s not too late to get a fresh new title on the next-gen marketplace. As long as they don’t ruin the music with a shitty dubstep version, I will likely be happy.
