Metal Gear Rising Region Locks Being Looked At

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is setting a new precedent with it’s release in North America on Steam. It is going to be a region locked game. This is a major concern for consumers since most of us have never thought of Steam as a distribution method that discriminates like that. The negative consequence of this would be simple: it fragments a community. This in turn opens up consumers around the world to different price structures or outright blocking, which isn’t something PC gamers at this stage appreciate.

Currently the game is set to go on sale in North America and Europe on January 9th. JP Kellams of Platinum Games however has popped up to add a bit of hope to gamers. On his Twitter account he had mentioned that this issue was raised to Konami.

“Just letting everyone know: First thing I did in the office today was talk about the MGR region lock thing. @konami are looking in to it.”

This was followed with:

“When I hear something back from the producer that I can share, I will be sure to share it here. Still no idea what’s up though.”

Hopefully we hear an update from Konami or Platinum Games on the issue as it is a big concern with the community at large that is looking forward to playing Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on their computers.
