Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster Gets Vita Release Date, PS3 Collector’s Edition Details

Square Enix is really scattering their announcements with this one. Last time around, we heard about the PS3 release date and the announcement of the collector’s edition. Today, Square has announced that the Vita edition of Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster will launch right along with the PS3 edition on March 18th, 2014.

Here’s where things get complicated. While FFX|X-2 will support cross saving between the PS3 and Vita, we won’t be seeing any cross buy features. To even take advantage of that cross save feature, you’d have to buy the game on each console. The Vita release will have the option for buying digitally or physically and regardless of medium you will purchase both games as a set. No picking and choosing between one or the other. If you choose to purchase a physical copy of the game, the case will only contain the cartridge for Final Fantasy X HD with a voucher for a digital download of Final Fantasy X-2. Even if you’re like me and always choose to go physical, you’re still forced to get X-2 digitally.

FFXX2 Collectors Edition

PS3 news comes baring new details on the Collector’s Edition, which will be available exclusively for the PS3 and exclusively through the Square Enix Online Store. The Collector’s Edition will feature a 40-page hardcover artbook, featuring art from both games. The X-2 section will feature renders for each and every dressspehere; news that would make a 12 year-old me very excited.   A soundrack is also included in the box, containing over six hours of music set to a slideshow. Lastly, the box will contain five lithographs of art featuring characters from both games. The samples above may look like familiar pieces of X X-2 art, but Square is promising at least one new CG render just for the HD Remaster edition.

Does Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster have your attention yet? You’ve got four months to decide. The PS3, PS3 Collectors, and Vita editions all release on March 18th of next year.
