Current-gen controller support on Next-gen consoles with CronusMAX

CronusMAX  has added support for next-gen consoles in their latest update.

This is perfect for anyone looking to use their old favorites on their next-gen console or anyone who doesn’t want to shell out the dough for a second controller. Here is the full list of compatible devices for the Xbox One:

  • Gaming Keyboard & Mouse
  • DualShock 3 Controller *Wired & Wireless*
  • DualShock 4 Controller *Wired & Wireless*
  • Xbox 360 Controller *Wired & Wireless*
  • PS3 Joystick
  • Xbox 360 Joystick
  • Wii U Pro Controller
  • Wiimote

Players can also use their favorite next-gen gamepads and use them for their current-gen consoles. For those looking for support on the PlayStation 4, there hasn’t been an official update for use on PS4 but most controllers work on the system with CronusMAX by default. You can check out the video proof here.

I’ve always been interested in cross-compatibility with controllers last-gen since I wasn’t a huge fan of using the DualShock 3 for shooters. Both controllers for the next-gen are great though so I would mainly pick this up for when friends come over. Another reason I might pick this up is to see how the impulse triggers function on the PS4 as that’s my favorite controller for the next-generation currently. Though I’d most likely be missing out on some of the touchpad features since I don’t think there’s any substitute for the touch gestures on the Xbox One controller. There is button mapping support for the touchpad buttons though.
