After a lot of controversy surrounding inappropriate content being streamed on Twitch.tv via the PlayStation Playroom, Twitch announced today that it would be pulling Playroom from its streaming services.
The removal is apparently temporary, according to a Twitch representative that spoke to Polygon “We will look into adding it back as PS4 owners become more familiar with the games-only focus of Twitch content.” A lot of people were streaming talk-shows and the like using the Playroom, which goes against Twitch’s “gaming content only” clause in the Terms of Service. Though a lot of the content was harmless, there were also reports of more inappropriate uses of the streaming service within the Playroom, which is an entirely separate violation on its own.
The removal of Playroom streams won’t be affecting the streaming capabilities of other PlayStation 4 titles. In any case, it looks like Twitch has put Playroom users in a temporary “time-out” of sorts. Do you think it was the right move? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
