Super Mario Galaxy is one of the most loved series to grace the Wii console to date. The Super Mario Galaxy series embodies everything that Nintendo stands for. The games are inventive, charming, and challenging all while maintaining approachability. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a Galaxy game since 2010, and fans have been wondering if the series will ever return.
Recently, Nintendo released an Iwata Ask interview, and Shigeru Miyamoto addressed the concerns:
The same team can’t make both [Super Mario 3D World and another Super Mario Galaxy game] at the same time…and we can’t bring in a second party and slap the name Super Mario Galaxy on it. I suppose we could idealistically make both in Tokyo, but we want to do something new too, so there was that dilemma.
Allow me to translate that for you, “Look, we ain’t splitting are teams apart like those American studios, and for now we are making the greatness that is Super Mario 3D World. When we are done with that maybe, just maybe, we’ll get back to Galaxy, but who knows we might come up with something better for you peasants. Miyamoto out. ” Well, that’s what I got from it.
