There’s some exciting news about the upcoming Steam Machine. Website IBuyPower has revealed a prototype of Valve’s console, along with its price and information about its specs.
So here are the deets. The Steam Machine is priced at $499, which is the same as the XBox One. According to The Verge, the console will have 1080p capability and run games at 60 fps, and it will also come with a 500GB hard drive and a Steam Controller. As mentioned at their big reveal a couple of months ago, the Steam Machine won’t run Windows but rather will use the SteamOS, which is based on Linux. As far as specs go, this console uses AMD technology for its graphics card (yay) and its CPU (boo). Time will tell how that all works out leading up to its release.
What do you think? Are you interested in getting what is essentially a gaming PC for $500 or are you more comfortable sticking with a known console quantity? Leave a comment and let’s talk Steam Machines!
