This is not your typical Plants vs. Zombies game, and that’s okay because it looks like a ton of fun. Electronic Arts has announced that their third-person shooter spinoff, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, will release for Xbox 360 and Xbox One on February 18 in North America, and February 20 in Europe. There is a PC release also in the works, but they did not mention a release date for the ‘puter folk.
Along with this announcement, PopCap has released a lengthy gameplay video with commentary explaining some of the classes. There appears to be quite a few variations of all the classes, such as the Marine Biologist variant of the Scientist, who wields a dolphin that spits out fish guts. Awesome. The gameplay video follows a 24-player Team Vanquish match.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will retail for $30 for Xbox 360 and PC, and $40 for Xbox One. The next-gen version will include the exclusive Boss Mode, which features SmartGlass and Kinect gameplay. I was interested in this game when it was announced at this year’s E3, but now I’m actually kind of excited.
