Japan’s Wii U Sales Pick Up with New Bundle

Japan’s Wii U sales have finally gained some ground, posting 38,802 sales this week — a massive leap up from the prior week’s flagging 2,000 sales. Most of the buzz is attributed to the Wii Party U Deluxe bundle which includes the Wii U system and Wii Motion Plus remote, Wii Party U and New Super Mario Bros. U, and a 30-day code for Wii Karaoke U.

This has to be great news for Nintendo, who are still waiting for the Wii U to really take off. With some other great titles prepared to launch in the next few quarters, I — a proud Wii U owner — am really hoping to see something like this happen here in the US, thought with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 just around the corner, it’s likely going to be a tougher sell with many North American gamers still.
