GameStop Partners with St. Jude for Annual Thanks and Giving Campaign!

This morning, GameStop announced that they will be “playing it forward” and partnering with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for their annual St. Jude Thanks and Giving Campaign. Nothing gives me more pride than seeing the gaming community take a step forward for the greater good of children battling disease and illness so early in the life course. In light of the difficulties that occurred this weekend with Extra Life, this is some great news to put a smile on your Monday.

GameStop has set a goal of $500,000 worth of charitable donations toward St. Jude’s campaign. For those unaware, Thanks and Giving is an annual event where St. Jude makes the most amazing union of celebrities, media, retail and corporate brands, and other figures to ask consumers for donations as they go about their holiday shopping. Proceeds go towards the discovery of cures and the saving of children all over.

GameStop’s press release cites that St. Jude is the leader in how the world “understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other deadly diseases.” GameStop’s part of the campaign begins this Wednesday, November 6th until December 24th, 2013. GameStop customers will be able to donate $1 (maybe more?) to the children of St. Jude’s Hospital and Research Hospital at checkout, hopefully it also extends to their online ordering.

Many of you have probably heard about St. Jude before, but for those who haven’t, know that it is a phenomenal organization and I, for one, am incredibly proud to see GameStop be a part of this. So remember while you shop this holiday season to give back to the kids!
