When Rockstar announced that Grand Theft Auto V netted a clean $800 million on the first day of its release, fans and industry veterans alike were impressed by the number. So it’s only appropriate that the latest installment in the Call of Duty franchise knock GTA V off it’s throne and claim the latest “most impressive day one sales” prize. According to Activision, Call of Duty: Ghosts has already made more than $1 billion in day one sales.
With over 15,000 stores opening for the midnight release of Ghosts, it’s no surprise that it was such a success. The game also claims the title of most pre-ordered release at Gamestop. So what’s next for Activision? Well, considering that they expect Ghosts to be the most successful launch title for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, it’s gonna be smooth sailing for them over the next couple of months.
