Today at D23 Expo Japan, Square Enix announced that it has officially begun developing Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX! Following suit with HD 1.5 ReMIX, it seems as though Square Enix is getting ready for the eventual launch of Kingdom Hearts 3, the final entry in the Xehanort saga that fans have been following for over ten years now. Nicely enough, it seems that by the time KH3 is out, fans, both old and new, will have nice little HD compilations of the entire saga, making the series incredibly accessible for those who haven’t kept up with it since the ancient days of PS2 lore.
The game is set to include remastered versions of both Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Birth by Sleep Final Mix, titles that, up until now, have been exclusive to Japanese markets. I’m personally very excited for this considering that I find both of these titles to be the absolute best in the series. Being able to see them in HD (and BBS on a console) will be all the reason I ever needed to plunge through them again. In addition, the game is slated to include theatrical cutscenes of Kingdom Hearts re:Coded to make sure that fans are aware of the happenings from that smaller title. Though no concrete release date has been announced, you can expect Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX sometime in 2014 on the Playstation 3.
Make sure to check out the phenomenal debut trailer if you haven’t already!
