Sony has garnered a substantial amount of goodwill with PlayStation Plus since it began, and Microsoft, slowly but surely, followed suit announcing their own Games with Gold program during E3 this year. The program was initially announced as a limited-time offer to thank Xbox Live Gold members.
Today, through their Xbox Wire Microsoft announced that the Games with Gold program will be an “ongoing” benefit of Gold memberships on the Xbox 360. New games will become available every 1st and 16th of the month, and the titles will range from AAA to arcade titles. Unlike Sony’s PlayStation Plus, once you download games from Games with Gold they are yours to keep. Unfortunately, no word if the Games with Gold program is coming to the Xbox One.
Even though, Sony delayed DRIVECLUB, a much anticipated PlayStation Plus release on the PS4, the program is graduating to Sony’s new console. Resulting in Games with Gold looking to be the lesser of the two services.
