Fans of RPG games might want to sit down for this one. Cedaria: Blackout is an independently-developed adventure RPG game, featuring an awesome blend of steampunk and Middle-Eastern architecture. It’s set on an island towards the end of the 19th century that was plunged into darkness because the Phoenix, a mysterious invention that had industrialized and powered the island, suddenly broke down. Enter the player, who comes into the story with the goal of repairing the Phoenix and preventing an all-out civil war from happening. You see, with no power on the island, the civilization is on the brink of collapse, and the player must navigate quests and treacherous settings using either their wits or their fists (if they so choose) to resolve conflict and save Cedaria.
The game itself is being developed by an NGO called Search For Common Ground, that works in over 50 countries to promote peace and positive-problem solving. They’ve paired up with the studio Matsuko, in Beirut, Lebanon, to create this game with the goal of promoting positive problem solving in Lebanese and Middle-Eastern youth. It’s an admirable goal, and not something that is seen enough in the gaming industry, but they need your help to make it happen!
