If you’ve been hanging around the interwebs long enough, you might have heard that since Keiji Inafune left Capcom, he lost all of the rights to his beloved creations, such as Dead Rising and most notably, the beloved and much cherished Mega Man franchise. With nowhere to go but up thanks to his departure, Keiji started his own development team and are in the midst of making a spiritual successor to Mega Man titled Mighty No. 9. The real kick is that with his adorable Kickstarter video to promote his new dream, he and his team have already raised almost 2.2 million dollars since its launch. Keep in mind the most he has asked for as of the time of this writing is $900,000.
The game is being created by Keiji himself and the original development team behind Mega Man 9 and 10. If you haven’t seen anything about the game itself, check out Comcept’s Kickstarter page here and pledge a dollar or two. Thanks to the overwhelming response, the side-scrolling shooter is in the works of being made for PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U, and will come packed with extra levels, different modes, matching PC versions, and even ‘making of’ documentaries. Needless to say, I am not the only one excited about Mighty No. 9 ( I may or may not have pledged half a paycheck).
