Higurashi When They Cry and Long Live the Queen are Greenlit

Well this is a pleasant surprise for visual novel fans. MangaGamer has successfully pushed their localization of Higurashi When The Cry on to Steam. While I’m sure plenty of the realistic fans have this already through MangaGamer’s website, the fact that MangaGamer is finally on Steam means that the game should get a bit more exposure. In case you haven’t seen the anime yet or any of the other adaptations, Higurashi is about a group of kids living inside a cursed town. Every year one person goes missing and another dies. That’s when it all starts to get a bit crazy. Hopefully this move brings with it some more MangaGamer translations.

If one quirky Japanese visual novel isn’t enough to enough to shock you, how about a princess maker getting greenlit as well? That’s right, Long Live the Queen from Hanako Games is also on the list. For those that have never played a princess maker, it is a style of game that has you grow a girl in to a Queen through time management. Long Live the Queen looks very interesting as Hanako seems to have put some real thought in to the politics of the character.

There were a few other games on the list as well. Here’s the full list:
