2013 has been a good year for Soulcalibur fans. July gave us information on the Soulcalibur 2 HD remake and today we’re seeing information on a new, PS3 exclusive, F2P Soulcalibur. Not much is known about the newest installation in the series but its safe to assume it will follow in the footsteps of other F2P fighters like Tekken Revolution. The information comes from the latest issue of Famitsu (via Gematsu ).
I’m personally excited just to have more Soulcalibur in my life, but I wasn’t a fan of the token-per-play business model of Tekken Revolution. Plays were limited to how many tokens you currently had and tokens regenerated over a certain amount of time. Of course, you could always spend money to get more play tokens. The whole experience felt like a Facebook game. Hopefully I’ll enjoy whatever direction they decide to take Soulcalibur: Lost Swords.
