Ace Attorney Dual Destinies Release Date and Why It’s Digital-Only

With that hair, you'd better be ready.

With that hair, you’d better be ready.

Anyone who has played the Ace Attorney series before knows that the games are very text-heavy. That said, it’s no doubt that localizing and translating the newest installment for North American 3DS systems would be a very time-consuming process, but the localization team at Capcom has been hard at work helping bring it to the States as soon as possible. It has only now been confirmed that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies will be available for digital download on October 24th on the 3DS eShop in North America and Europe.

Yes, the game is still not going to receive a physical release. In a recent Q&A on Capcom Unity with Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies Producer Motohide Eshiro, it was clarified that the title would receive a digital-only release in North America and Europe to completely phase out the manufacturing time and get the game to consumers as quickly as possible.

Personally, I don’t see it as a very big issue, unless you’re a collector. Animal Crossing: New Leaf actually sold most of its copies via digital download, so I can’t imagine the rest of the 3DS community will have that big of a problem with it. While I’m sure it’s not just about getting the game out as soon as possible, and most likely more about the production costs, I’ll still gladly get the game when it’s released. Especially at the generous price of $29.99. Until then, we’ll be sure to update you as more information on the game emerges.
