Remember that one time that Microsoft Backtracked on their always online policy? Microsoft is at it again and this time, the ‘always watching’ Kinect is the target. According to a recent IGN interview, the Xbox One’s constant Kinect requirement is now a thing of the past. Xbox One consoles will still come bundled with the peripheral but the Kinect will not need to be plugged in for the One to function. Additionally, users will now have the ability to switch off the Kinect via an options menu. If a game wants access to Kinect features, gamers would be asked via message box if they wanted to switch their Kinect back on.
