Remember way back in 2010 when a reboot of the XCOM franchise was announced as a first-person shooter set in the era of Leave it to Beaver? Years later, we got the fantastic XCOM: Enemy Unknown and we haven’t heard much about the game that we were promised until only recently when it was redesigned as a tactical third-person shooter. Besides being a spin off of last year’s tactics masterpiece, The Bureau seems to differentiate itself in a number of ways, right down to the advertising.
Above is the latest ‘commercial’ for the game, and this one is creepy. Still set in the same time frame, it’s live action with surreal elements give off a very spine-chilling vibe, especially in the last seconds. While the gameplay resembles Mass Effect 3 with a hint of Enemy Unknown thrown in, the trailer looks like something you’d be thrown off guard while watching TV Land at 4 in the morning. It’s definitely something that perked my interest and makes me a little hopeful that the game can reproduce some of the WTF emotions that the trailer pulled off so well.
The Bureau releases to American store shelves this August. Give this weird, little TV spot would-be a look and tell us what you think!
