Lack of ZombiU Profitability to Blame For No Sequel

How long will you survive? Not long enough for a sequel apparently. ZombiU may have been one of the most successful WiiU launch titles but, according to Ubisoft, the game was far from profitable. Chairman and CEO of Ubisoft Yves Guillemot revealed to Games Industry International that WiiU exculsive ZombiU was “not even close” to profitable for the company. The lack of financial success is also the reason former WiiU exclusive Rayman Legends was re-announced as a multiplatform game.

ZombiU was my first introduction to the WiiU. I got a few minutes with the game at PAX last year, which was enough for me to see it was a pretty good take on the Zombie craze. Obviously a game called ZombiU would be a WiiU exclusive, but I would have loved to see how the game would have fared had it been released on the Xbox or PS3. Exclusivity on the PS4 or Xbox One were big talking points during E3; its a shame being an exclusive on the WiiU is more of a death omen than a selling point.
