Earlier today, Nyu Media announced it’s next big title in the form of Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm, a “labor of love” from three former SNK/ King of Fighters employees who have ditched the mainstream and mundane task of creating next installments in big franchises and decided to take it up amongst themselves to create something they love.
Yatagarasu is a new 2D fighting game for PC that draws its main inspiration from arcade favorite Street Fighter: 3rd Strike, but delivers more of the insane, combo-based style that we’ve come to know and love from titles like BlazBlue. With eight playable characters, old-school graphics, and a style that is accessible for both fighting newcomers and hardened veterans, Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm looks to fill that void that many PC gamers have been missing out on.
With an IndieGogo goal of $68,000 US Dollars, it certainly is an obtainable goal and something the creators stress will give investors a run for their money. If the goal is reached, an extra 2 characters are promised to be included in the game, as well as new graphics, voiceovers, improved balancing, and even a limited edition comic done by the creators of the Street Fighter comic series. The game is already planned for a Japanese arcade release, but with such a reasonable goal to hit, I wouldn’t be surprised if this goes the way of Tim Schafer’s Kickstarter.
