New Digimon Trademark Suggests Digimon World Re:Digitize May Come West

digimon-world-re-digitize-screen-01Digimon World is a series that started on the Playstation back in 1999, that took place within the universe of the popular Digimon franchise. Last year the series was rebooted for the PSP with Digimon World Re:Digitize. The new game featuring artwork from one of my favorite artists, Suzuhito Yasuda (Yozakura Quartet, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor) was popular enough to get an upcoming, enhanced 3DS port titled Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode. Bit of a mouthful yeah?

Namco Bandai has recently issued trademarks in the west for both Digital Monsters and Digimon World, specifically for context within game media. Given that it’s probably time for a comeback I wouldn’t be surprised if this means that we might be getting a new set of Digimon games. I’ll probably pick it up for the artwork alone but I can’t deny I’m not a little excited for a new Digimon game.
