Did you play Muramasa: The Demon Blade when it released for the Nintendo Wii back in 2009? If not (judging by the sales numbers this isn’t much of a surprise) then I have good news! The enhanced Vita port will be coming to North America courtesy of Aksys Games (Virtue’s Last Reward).
Siliconera has the details, but the moving tapestry of a game re-billed as Muramasa Rebirth will be arriving stateside with an entirely new localization from Aksys Games. When I played the game all those years ago I did find some issues with the original Ignition localization in that dialogue wasn’t as clear as it could have been and frankly a little confusing. Having played Virtue’s Last Reward (and awarding it my game of the year) I can say that this news pleases me greatly. This is also incentive for those of you who played the first version to pick it up again! Also because it’s an amazing game.
Also confirmed for the west are the DLC featuring the 4 new characters and story.
Oh also there’s a separate jump button instead of the up joystick motion like in the Wii version.
(Quicksummary: Muramasa Rebirth is a side-scrolling metroidvania hack-and-slash from Japanese developer Vanillaware (Odin Sphere, Grim Grimoire, Dragon’s Crown). Following two separate protagonists, possessed princess Momohime and fugitive ninja Kisuke as they venture the land to complete their individual goals. Additionally one of the prettiest games I’ve ever played.)
Thank you Siliconera for the great news.
