Well this is an interesting reveal. Today Capcom has announced that Marvel Superheroes and Marvel vs Capcom will be combined in a new package for release on XBLA and PSN. Dubbed as Marvel vs Capcom Origins, this bundle seems to be built off the interest in the Avengers movie. Otherwise, I have no real explanation as to why they would simply skip X-men vs Street Figther and Marvel Superheroes vs Street Fighter.
Or maybe I’m just reading into this too much and they felt these were the pinnacle of the two franchises. Seeing as how Marvel Superheroes built up everything that X-men: Children of the Atom had put forth and Marvel vs Capcom did the same with the other two titles, maybe it’s not such a stretch of the imagination.
Either way, we are finally seeing a re-release of 2 of the prettiest fighters of the 90s. The upgrades seem similar to those of Street Fighter III’s re-release with filters, enhanced online with spectator mode and replay saving, and those Dynamic Challenges that added a little more to the matches. Since some of our readership probably don’t even remember this game in the arcades, this should be a good chance for you to catch up on some awesome Marvel fighting history.
Those that want to get some early hands on play of the game should checkout EVO. Capcom is bringing a build to the event. Marvel vs Capcom Origins will release for $15 when it comes to XBLA and PSN.
