Today, Zombie Studios’ Free-To-Play FPS, Blacklight: Retribution, was released on Steam. The game, originally released on April 3 2012, is a futuristic multiplayer game which offers an immense level of customization of weapons and armor to best suit the player’s play-style. In terms of modes, it contains the usual scenarios such as Capture the Flag and Team Deathmatch, but it also offers unique modes such as Netwar. As with most F2P games being released these days, there’s always the option for customers to spend a little bit of money and get a bit of a leg up. Steam is offering a Startup Pack which contains pre-made equipment, a 3000 XP headstart, and an XP Boost until July 10th. Whether or not that’s your bag is up to you, but the core experience is plenty fun and solid as it is. Also, it just wouldn’t be a Steam release without its own set of achievements and offers — players who reach level 5 in the next two weeks will receive an Orange Portal Weapon Tag. I have no idea what that is, but you can bet people (myself included) will be downloading it straight away to find out.
