The team behind The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings, CD Projekt RED, have recently announced their new project at their summer conference. The game is said to be named ‘Cyberpunk’, and is a brand new non-linear RPG based on a tabletop RPG of the same name. As you’d expect given the contrast in contexts, Cyberpunk is not related to The Witcher series.
Few details have been released thus far, what can be expected is the standard RPG formula – players will be able to utilise different character types such as hackers, engineers, mercenaries and the like and then further customise these characters with items and weaponry from the cyberpunk science fiction genre. Expect plenty of high-tech gizmos and gadgets that wouldn’t look out of place on the hover scooter that I have parked in my garage.
Without raising expectations too high it would be nice to see CD Projekt RED at next month’s E3 conference in order to gain a closer look at Cyberpunk and see what kind of game it is shaping up to be.
