[News] Netherrealm Studios Debuts Injustice: Gods Among Us

Warner Bros. Interactive and Netherrealm Studios announced a new fighting game starring the Justice League today.  I’m actually pretty excited about this.

What we can see in the debut trailer is an extension of some of the mechanics MK vs DC implemented.  Arena destruction with multiple levels seems to be a big part of the trailer and was really a large part of MK vs DC’s level designs.  It really is interesting to see these first two games following MK vs DC for Netherrealm is both a Mortal Kombat and DC Universe fighting game.  This is probably healthy for the company as they get to work with lots of old assets while building something unique.

The idea for the game is focused on two factions of the DC Universe.  The Powers faction takes over your gods like Wonder Woman and Superman.  The Tech faction is your Batmen of the DC Universe.  This lends a distinct separation of classes and should be a good setting behind this civil war setting amongst heroes.  The character designs look to be pretty unique and interesting tying in to a lot of different inspirations like the films and games Warner Bros has been producing.  At least more interesting than MK vs DC’s designs.

Below you will be able to see the debut trailer for the game and Warner Bros. press release announcement.  Personally, all I am reminded of in that trailer is the Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 intro.
