[News] Zone of the Enders HD Collection Gets Release Date

Excellent news for anyone looking to spend money on Zone of the Enders this autumn and terrible news for everyone who wanted the games tomorrow: The Zone of the Enders HD Collection, a release of the two ZotE games “remastered” with HD visuals, has been officially pegged with an autumn 2012 release date for both the PS3 and 360.


Yes, “autumn 2012” is a bit on the vague side, but it’s good to see the cult classic pair of games getting any kind of release in an era when underperforming properties tend to be cut and forgotten.

For those who didn’t give the games a spin “back in the day,” Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner are futuristic mech combat games steeped in anime stylings and designed under the watchful eye of Metal Gear Solid creator and all-around evil mastermind Hideo Kojima himself. They were pretty gosh darn awesome, basically.

KONAMI details mech warrior collection details for Playstation®3 and Xbox 360

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH today announced it will release its Zone of the Enders HD Collection in autumn, with the two-game compilation to be released for PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360.

The Zone of the Enders HD Collection comprises fan favourites Zone of the Enders and its sequel Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner. Both were developed by Kojima Productions for the PlayStation®2 system, but have been re-mastered with stunning HD visuals to showcase their stunning gameplay and action-packed set-pieces to an all new audience. The games won huge acclaim with their futuristic setting and engrossing story-telling, which set against a backdrop of interplanetary wars, fought by beautifully-realised mech robots and their pilots.

“We are looking forward to bringing the legendary Zone of the Enders series to old and new fans in a high definition form,” said Martin Schneider, General Manager for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “We are excited to offer these games on new platforms which will allow gamers to experience the drama and action of the Zone of the Enders like they have never seen it before.”
